About Finca El Cedro

Coffee from Finca El Cedro drew our attention when it placed 2nd in the 2017 Brocomoros cupping competition, a quality competition that highlights the best coffees from the umbrella organization Fapecafes. Fapecafes is an umbrella exporter that is owned by and represents three cooperatives: Acrim, Apecap, & Procafeq. Farm-owner Ilvar Francisco Abad Jimenez produces roughly 60 (69kg) bags of green coffee each year, and this lot represents his best eight bags submitted for the competition.

We were able to secure this exceptional microlot at auction and offer the premium price that beans of this caliber deserve. With notes of tangerine, golden raisin and honeysuckle, this coffee highlights some of the best flavors this region has to offer.

We’ve been keeping our eyes on coffees from this area for the past few years, after being impressed by the quality of coffee at the Brocomoros competition during previous visits in 2013 and 2015. By working in conjunction with our importing cooperative, Coop Coffees, we have been able to consistently access some of the best coffees from this region and import them directly from farmer-owned cooperatives.
