Alta Mira translates to “high gaze,” often used to refer to something held in high regard. A carefully tended, 11-acre smallholding, Alta Mira farm lives up to its namesake.

Alta Mira is owned and operated by Ana Estrela. Here in the highlands of Guatemala, Ana cultivates Bourbon, Catuai and Caturra varieties - some of our favorites to be found in the country. Thoughtfully grown, picked, and processed by Ana just months ago, this is one of the freshest coffees on our menu and offers you the chance to taste the lush and distinctive terroir of this highland haven.

Alta Mira is located in the Quetzaltenango region of Guatemala. Often overshadowed by its more famous neighbors in Huehuetenango and Lake Atitlan, like any hidden gem it takes a bit of work and serendipity to find your way here. But it’s well worth it. We continue to be impressed by the quality of the coffee produced in the area, particularly the crops coming to us from our partners at FECCEG, La Federación Comercializadora de Café Especial de Guatemala.

FECCEG is a second level cooperative that provides technical assistance, agronomy support, access to market, and more to a dozen smallholder farmer cooperatives throughout the surrounding regions of Guatemala. Primary cooperatives in this area taste every members’ coffee harvest, crafting blends of similar quality crops and setting aside truly exceptional harvests to be sold as single farmer lots and awarded a premium for their quality.

Crisp and well balanced, Alta Mira is one of those special coffees.
