About Rwanda Vunga

At 1950m, in the hills surrounding the Mukungwa and Nyabarongo rivers, sits the town of Vunga. Here 100% Bourbon variety coffee grows from the rich, loamy sand soils of the highlands into a fruit that uniquely expresses the natural terroir of the region. Special attention was paid to the care of this cherry from the moment it was picked. Best practices in washing, drying and dry milling were used to ensure that the unique flavor of this coffee was not compromised.

Rwanda is surrounded by some of the most renowned coffee growing countries in the world and has excellent conditions to produce world class coffee that is unique not only to its neighbors but to the rest of the specialty coffee world. Deep fruit flavors of plum and stone fruits are balanced with bright citrus acidity and a delicate florality that lingers on the palate. We’re excited to have this coffee for the first time this year and to continue to travel and deepen our partnerships in Rwanda.
